    1. I love the subtle variation of the grey and white feathers... one of my very favourite breeds.

  3. A fine group of hens. Does Cheep approve? Have you named them?

    1. Oh yes! Cheep approves :-)
They are called Holly, Ivy and Bryony.

    1. They are Marans hybrids. Marans are a very fine french breed that lay beautiful chestnut brown eggs.

  8. They are pretty girls, not surprised your rooster was strutting his stuff! I need some new girls - we're down to one and I know you shouldn't keep a single hen but she is the most cantankerous, pecky bird and I'm sure she'd not tolerate newcomers also she seems to be very happy now that she has all the scraps to herself! I'll plan for some new girls in the spring and a bit of flock restructuring!

    1. Your only hen may like some company in the spring... choose a breed that look like her and the integration will be easier.

    1. They are from rural Essex, so are sturdy and sensible... but keep themselves neat and tidy :-)

  11. Very very pretty. We need to add to our flock especially as Rocky lost the fight with the fox but like Annie, I think we will have to wait until the spring.
