New Year confession . . . my desk is a mess!

I'm back in my studio and raring to go . . . er, but . . .

. . . yes, my desk is a mess!

Does that happen to you when things get busy? Or are you always neat and tidy?

  1. I'd loto be neat and tidy, but I'm not. Had a big tidy up last week so I can at least see the floor though :-)

  3. I know that feeling. I'm generally untidy, but I quite like having a blitz every now and again

  6. Spent most of yesterday putting things back to where they were supposed to be - I could do with Mary Poppins help I think.

  7. I procrastinate by tidying up.

  8. I'm like Terry, I can put off work for hours by having a good sort out. The problem is that now I work mainly from my laptop in the morning room so my old desk upstairs is used only to put stuff down on and then I can ignore it and walk away. Not good.

  9. Celia, your studio looks like a very active scene...and that's good! In my little apartment I aspire to organized clutter. Lots of stuff, but I do know where everything is, and regularly sort out the clutter categories' fiefdoms.

Christmas preparations introduced some true spacial challenges, but the preparations were such fun, I didn't mind a bit. Today is going to be a clearing up day...maybe I can finish by noon. xo

  11. When I'm in a creative flow everything is everywhere, which can be very annoying as I'm a tidy person at heart! :) x

  13. My work table looks very similar but the rest of the place is quite neat.

I like the new look of your blog, not sure when you changed it but I am playing catch-up after illness.

Happy New Year to you and Cliff.

  14. I'm tidy at heart and it never gets too bad but it's often a mess really.

  15. I don't think that's messy at all Celia. At least it shows you are doing something!

  16. Ha. no, that looks tidy to me!! I have several paintings and scraperboards on the go, each has a pile of ref books, sketches, roughs which revolve and mingle and spawn! Anyway, I don't trust tidy!! ;-)

  17. I believe making art, is a kind of pulling things out of chaos into some form of order, so studios reflect that process, it is very satisfying when it works, but a clear-out now and then helps too!

  18. I vary between tidy and chaos, I guess like many of us. Just had a major tidy before teaching a lino class and even got the vacuum cleaner out!!

  19. But if your desk is a mess, then it is all in order in your mind!

  20. I'm never tidy. I used to claim it was because I didn't have enough storage, but I am forced to confront the fact that I am just a naturally untidy person. Ho hum. There are worse failings. Though I do get frustrated with myself when it takes an extra half hour to get going on a task because I have to unbury my desk/hunt down my secateurs/go fossiking around for my favourite knife...
