Remembering

Today is a day for remembrance.

So many shocking and painful memories
for people touched by the events of 9/11.

14 years ago I stood with Cliff and looked out
at Manhattan stretching out below the towers;
they seemed indestructible.

My heart goes out to all those whose lives
were changed for ever on that day.

  1. A day the world changed irrevocably. You are right to remind us to pause and remember. Lesley

  2. Celia, this New Yorker thanks you for your very kind post. Yes, somethings will never be the same again, and yet, we do need to continue to try to find reasons to celebrate life. xo

  3. I remember looking towards the Manhattan skyline as I sailed out of the harbour. NY looked like an old friend who had had his front teeth knocked out. Will never be the same.
