Makes me consider some of my own views and what they may have once looked like. Being a writer, that certainly conjures up all kinds of possibilities. (PS: it looks like I just may be heading back to Sooke Harbour House in the New Year) Goodness, that coastline would have looked very different centuries ago.

Diane, Sand to GlassDianeSchuller.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17359249391460871879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1220897337333701839.post-65328418820100203232007-12-11T22:21:00.000+00:002007-12-11T22:21:00.000+00:00Years ago I used to have a workshop in Ely and use...Years ago I used to have a workshop in Ely and used to drive across the fens most days.

The flat landscape and the cathedral gradually growing from a spec to the size of a toy always made me think of the pilgrims walking to Ely.

There were wonderful water fowl (pecking for grit) beside the road. Driving along your lovely route in Cambridgeshire, you could very well be in West Sussex, the scenery is so similar, I love the English countryside, I would like to move to a little house in it, one of these days? xLouisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03800196831833931842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1220897337333701839.post-45231489375951072462007-12-09T09:35:00.000+00:002007-12-09T09:35:00.000+00:00What a wonderful thought! I travelled the Roman road just north of Lincoln a few weeks ago (is it the A15?) They knew how to build straight roads, didn't they!Matronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07705506930308472527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1220897337333701839.post-78150292151334840962007-12-07T23:25:00.000+00:002007-12-07T23:25:00.000+00:00What a view! I often look out at the ocean and think I would like to see the tall ships (masts and all) of the past sailing by.

By the way, I just started your recommended book, Notes From A Small Island, by Bill Bryson. I am laughing again. It's also very interesting. Funny thing when I brought it home. My sister looked at the cover (it looks like it has a tea bag on it, if you remember) and took a double take. She thought that it was one of my tea bags that I left on it!Meg Wolffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10052363163218543818noreply@blogger.com
