Ooh, the wool from Aarhus!? I have sock envy now! Very very therapeutic. Have you tried 'wives and daughter yet'? Knitting and Michael Gambon are always a good combo.
Fabulous wool - I'm half way through making a pair of socks I started in the spring, so will have to resist the lure .... where did you get the wool? I haven't seen any like it in the places I buy wool ...
Ooh, I want to learn to knit socks. Yours are fine strømpe indeed. I just have keep telling myself 'no more projects until you finish something...' Enjoy! Sal
Blogger has been eating comments again! I stopped to say that I also knit socks on 5 needles, rather than 4. Also, for those interested in self-striping yarn, Google 'sock yarn.' There is plenty available, mostly USA, some Germany.
self striping yarn makes perfect baby hats too. I don't make socks because I'd never get the second one done and there is enough in my stash of unfinished items without adding socks. 5 needles are way easier than 4 I think, more space to work somehow.
Well spotted Silverpebble - it's the sock wool I bought when I visited Aarhus. And yes, I've been knitting while watching your 'Wives & Daughters' DVD.
Veg heaven - isn't it brilliant!
Gina - this sock wool is just too tempting!
Joanna - look at www.hjertegarn.dk
Artslice - isn't it fun knitting stripes!
Louise - have a go! I'm sure you'll be able to doit. Start with a scarf then progress to socks.
Organic Viking - you wouldn't believe the number of unfinished projects that I have in my wake!!!!
Moreidlethoughts - I found a 'toe-up' sock pattern using 5 needles so added an extra pin to my Grandma's set of 4. I've recently found some gorgeous hand-dyed yarn on etsy.com :)
Pamela - You're quite right - more space to see what you're doing! I'm thinking of knitting mittens or gloves with the last 2 balls bought in Denmark.
Hannah - It's been good therapy to sit and knit. I'm going to enjoy wearing these when it gets chilly!
Just had to come back and tell you that today I just came across a way of knitting both socks at the same time. You use a longish circular knitting needle and the magic loop technique, obviously you need to use 2 balls of yarn too. So now the 2 balls of Regia Softy in my living room stash (as distinct from my much larger spare room stash) are going move from gently winking at me to crashing cymbals whenever I look in their direction ... Mittens sound good, I've seen loads of lovely patterns recently.
I love reading all the comments (except for spam and advertising which I will delete) and I'll reply here in the comments under each blog post, it may take a few days if I'm busy. You don't need to have a blog to leave a comment, you can select the name/URL option and fill in just your name instead of a blog link.

Lovely colours, the socks and the work underneath. I hope you are better soon.
